Rhoda Brunelli, Volunteer Coordinator for the Boise Braves | Boise, ID
What is your favorite part of your job as a volunteer coordinator?
The best part of my job is that I have no set job-description or hours to adhere by. One day my job might be baking a birthday cake for an elderly resident at the VA Home thru Community Cakes*. Another day, you might find me substitute teaching at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, which I have done for the past 10 years. My job is pretty much open-ended, and I am so very fortunate to be able to have that opportunity.
What is your greatest strength and how does it help you when you volunteer?
I don’t know that I have any one greatest-strength really, but I’d like to think that I am somewhat organized. Some that know me, might describe it as mildly OCD-ish. I enjoy being creative, while I also love the number crunching and detail side of things. Hopefully those qualities transfer over to the projects that I work on.
What has been your favorite experience as a volunteer coordinator?
That’s a tough one because I have done several and have enjoyed them all. The Celebrate Our Braves event for Boise High School was probably my most challenging, because it involved so many more moving parts. The overall event logistics and marketing of the various donations was probably my most favorite part of that project though. Our goal was create the best offerings possible to maximize our outcome, and it worked!
What are two personal habits that have served you well?
1) I start my day with a cup (or three) of coffee!
2) I’ve learned to “measure twice and cut once.”
What are your hobbies?
I love to golf, ski, play tennis and explore the outdoors with my family.
Based on your experience, would you recommend Auction Frogs?
Absolutely – no question! I have worked with Kristi, and her Auction Frogs team, for years and each time the experience tops the last. Auction Frogs is a well-oiled machine and an asset to anyone planning a fundraising event; whether that is solely online or in conjunction with an on-site event. They are quick to respond to questions/needs and have always been very proactive in helping to find the best route for me to meet my end goal.
*Community Cakes is a non-profit organization of volunteers that enjoy giving the gift of cake for deserving members of our community that would otherwise not receive a birthday cake.
